F. A. Q.
Q: Why should I choose live solo instrumental guitar for my wedding?
A: Because it is beautiful and sophisticated music that creates a warm and unified atmosphere yet never draws the focus away from the wedding couple or the proceedings. Singers and bands are wonderful, but they can, albeit inadvertently, divert attention from the bride. I would never do that.
Q: What songs do you play?
A: My repertoire spans the great wedding classics, jazz standards, movie themes, Flamenco, Latin hits and arrangements of pop and rock songs. Here is my song list.
Q: Can I choose the songs you play?
A: Yes. You may choose as many songs as you like from my song list.
Q: Do you play special requests?
A: Yes. I am very happy to arrange your favourite song for instrumental solo guitar and perform it at your wedding. I will record my arrangement for you to keep as a unique audio memento of your wedding.
Q: When do you play during the ceremony?
A: Whenever you choose. I usually begin the prelude music when your first guests arrive. The processional song is played when the bride makes her entrance and walks down the aisle. I perform during readings and elsewhere during the ceremony as you require, most commonly during the signing of the register. The conclusion of your ceremony is marked with a celebratory recessional song followed by postlude music as your guests leave the ceremony venue.
Q: Can you also play during my cocktail hour or reception?
A: Yes. This is when the full range of my repertoire is available to entertain your family and friends.
Q: Can you play outdoors?
A: Yes. With or without mains power I provide crystal clear sound in any type of location.
Q: Can you provide a microphone and stand?
A: Yes. This can be useful for speeches and announcements.
Q: What is your background?
A professional guitarist for over 30 years, I once performed 900 metres above the ground (a Gold Coast hot air balloon wedding) and another time at Australia's lowest natural point (an ashes scattering ceremony near Lake Eyre). I now have my feet firmly on the ground in Port Macquarie, NSW, (elevation 5 metres) where I teach music and continue to perform at a surprising variety of public and private events. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Music (majoring in classical guitar performance).
Q: How do I book you?
A: Simply use the contact form below. I will advise my availability and email you a quote and performance agreement.
Q: Do you perform at funerals and wakes?
A: Yes. I have considerable experience providing sensitive and appropriate music for funerals and wakes. Here is a recent Google review: "Damon is a professional musician, suitable for weddings and so much more. Damon's respectful manner and quiet proficient musical repertoire created a supportive atmosphere during the recent event to commemorate my husband's passing." https://goo.gl/maps/mtFZWrXvnRgU8AMW9
Q: Are you insured?
A: For you peace of mind I have full public liability insurance for my performances in all locations ($30, 000, 000 coverage).
